In November 1970, a female was found dead with severe burns to the front half of her body in the mountains of Bergen, Norway. The enduring real-life mystery of “Isdal Woman” will be the subject of a new spy thriller series.

Handwritten Pictures, part of  Stefan Arndt and Tom Tykwer’s X Filme, and Beta Film’s “Undercover” producer Good Friends are the German producers. Fenes Film is the Norwegian partner. Beta Film will handle distribution and take the project to market. German and Norwegian broadcasters are expected to be announced shortly.

Shooting on the project gets underway in fall 2020.

Podkasten «Death in ice valley», om kvinnen som ble funnet drept i Isdalen, er tildelt sølv i Storbritannias store radioutdeling, Arias Radio Awards, for beste nye podkast. Serien er et samarbeid mellom NRK og BBC, og kan høres på NRK Radio.

«Sex and the city»-skuespilleren Sarah Jessica Parker anbefaler på sosiale medier å lytte til NRK-podkasten Death in Ice Valley, som er et samarbeid mellom NRK og BBC. «Den er både overraskende, skremmende og avhengighetsskapende, og min favoritt for tiden» skriver Parker på sin Instagramkonto. Mysteriet om den såkalte isdalskvinnen har vært en gåte i snart 50 år. Den unge kvinnen ble funnet død og nesten oppbrent i en steinrøys utenfor Bergen sentrum.

The book is based on a dramatic event in Bergen Norway, where a body of a young woman was found on the 29th of November 1970 under suspicious circumstances in the valley Isdalen Valley just outside of Bergen city center. Since then the case has had a large media and public interest and has been published in Norwegian and international media and is known as the Isdal case or the case of the Isdal woman.
